How to renew your PMP for free

You can earn the 60 PDUs without paying for courses. (The PMI renewal fee itself still applies.)

PMP renewal rules (PMI CCR)

• 60 PDUs every 3-year cycle.
• At least 35 Education PDUs, with at least 8 in each Talent Triangle area: Ways of Working, Power Skills, Business Acumen.
• Up to 25 Giving Back PDUs (e.g. working as a PM, volunteering, creating content); work-as-a-practitioner is capped at 8.
• Claim in PMI's CCRS; PMI can audit, so keep certificates/notes.
• Renewal fee: check PMI's current fee (lower for PMI members).

A $0 plan

1. Giving Back (up to 25): working as a PM (max 8), volunteering, mentoring, writing or presenting on PM.
2. Free PMI eLearning: PMI's free AI courses (21 PDUs across the free PMI courses we list).
3. PMXPO 2026 On-Demand: up to 12 PDUs.
4. Podcasts & webinars: The Project Management Podcast free episodes, ProjectManagement.com webinars, and chapter webinars (PMI UAE, Germany, SF and others).
5. Balance the triangle: make sure at least 8 PDUs go to each area; use the 60-PDU planner.
6. Claim in CCRS and keep proof for audit.
